TONY'S WRECKER SERVICE, INC.

This page is dedicated to the use of air cushions used in the towing and recovery industry and by our company.  Air cushions can be used in various situations

  • Overturned tractor and trailers
  • Aircraft
  • Underwater recovery of vessels
  • Rescue operations with entrapment
  • Cargo shifts

Air Cushions come in a variety of shapes and sizes and when used in conjunction with recovery wreckers can make for a timely and cost effective recovery.  Low pressure air cushions have a working pressure of 9 psi.  with a rating to move 20,000 lbs at the pressure.  Volume is the key.  Working at high volume and low pressure is what gives the recovery operators the ability to upright a loaded tractor and trailer with out unloading the cargo.

Below you will see a photo of our cushions that we have ready for emergency response at any given time of day.  We carry a total of 12 low pressure and 4 high pressure.  The tan low pressure cushions have a diameter of over 5' and a working height of 9 feet.

Listed are photos of recoveries done by Tony's Wrecker Service, to show you the usefulness of this equipment under the operation of trained personnel.

The pictures depict the air cushions in use on a load of refrigerated goods weighing 38,000 lbs.  The unit was righted and delivered in less than 3 hours.
